My yes-aww-no-we can do it! Week
First things first, let's talk about my irregular menstrual cycle. It's been a challenge for me, with a whopping 5-month gap between periods. I've been seeking ways to regulate my blood flow and exercise my reproductive system. Luckily, I discovered that the exercises I'm doing for my butt also help in this regard, so before every night before going to sleep, I really allot atleast 5 minutes of hip thrust and squats just to awake my blood. Such a win-win situation, right?!
Now, onto the time crunch I faced this week. Between rehearsals for the "Encanto" musical play I'm a part of and the load of schoolwork on my plate, finding time to complete the recommended 150 minutes of exercise was no easy feat. I'll admit, I was behind schedule, but I wasn't about to give up. To make up for the missed days, I decided to go all out and have a full blast workout for an entire hour. Then another hour the next day. Sadly, the free time that I only had for this week is my before sleeping time. Hence, I decided to have this workout session before I go to sleep which helped me fall asleep faster. I figured these intense sessions would make up for the two days I fell short. Though it was tough, I pushed through, reminding myself of the long-term benefits I would reap.
On top of that, our P.E teacher, Ma'am Christine, suddenly gave us an additional activity that counted towards our exercise time. That was a welcome relief, as it helped me meet my target for the week. I'm grateful for those extra 30 minutes, even though they added to the challenge of my already busy schedule.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room: my aching legs. Boy, oh boy, they were screaming in protest this week. The combination of squats, lunges, and hip thrusts plus jumping jacks had taken a toll on my lower body. Every step felt like I was dragging a ton of bricks, and even simple movements became a struggle. But I reminded myself that this discomfort was a sign of progress. It meant that I was challenging my muscles and pushing them to grow stronger. Sure, it made getting around a bit challenging, but I knew it was just a temporary phase. We can get through this, Ghai! Ajaaaa!
To alleviate some of the pain, I made sure to stretch before and after my workouts. I also took warm baths and used a foam roller to massage my sore muscles as adviced by my boyfriend who was also a P.E teacher. It provided some relief and helped me recover faster, thanks to the love.
Despite the obstacles I faced this week, I'm proud to say that I persevered. I may not have followed the plan exactly as intended, but I made adjustments to fit my circumstances. After all, life doesn't always go according to plan, but it's how we adapt that counts. Now, onto week 3, where I hope to find a better balance between my busy schedule and my butt-building journey. Let's see what challenges and victories await me on this continuing "yes butts, no more what ifs" adventure!
